Korea World B-boy Championships

July 1, 2011

The Korea Tourism Organization is sponsoring the R-16 World B-boy Master Championship this year. The event will take place at Seoul’s Olympic Hall on July 2nd and 3rd.

Festivities will include a graffitti tournament and an open-air urban street market featuring a hip-hop photo exhibition and graffiti art exhibition showcasing pieces by locally esteemed artists.

Oh, and there’ll also be photo booths with F1 racing girls raffling away 40 tickets to promote this year’s upcoming F1 Korean Grand Prix held in October. That could prove interesting.

Already in its fifth year, the R-16 B-boy World Championship is regarded as one of the biggest b-boy tournaments in the world, bringing together acts from around the globe.

Tickets can be purchased through Interpark. Both Seat S and Standing cost KRW 20,000, while Seat A costs KRW 10,000.

UPDATE: Here’s a clip of the finals.

Not a huge fan myself to be honest. But it sure looks cool combining traditional forms of dancing with more modern moves and backing it up with a 40-piece orchestra. Let me know if you wanna go and I’ll get you tickets.
