Tosokchon | Best Restaurants in Seoul
Tosokchon (737-7444) in Seochon serves up the best samgyetang in the city. And they have the long lines to prove it. I have no idea what they put in the broth but it’s absolutely fantastic.
Health-wise, it’s loaded with essentials: gingko nuts, ginseng, nuts, jujube, rice and around thirty herbs and grains.
They’ve raised the price; a bowl will now run you 15,000 won (it was 12,000 won last year). But that won’t keep me from coming back.
If you’re dropping by lunch during the week, be prepared to wait a while. The dish is especially popular during ‘bok days’ (복날), the three hottest days of summer (this year they fall on July 14th, 24th and August 13th). Collectively, the period is traditionally referred to as sambok.
Getting there: Grab subway Line 3 and get out exit 2 at Gyeongbokgung Station. Walk straight for 5mins and make a left at the GS25 on the corner.

I haven’t tried many samgyetang places in Seoul but of those that I have tried so far, Tosokchon is the best. I make sure I have a bowl everytime I visit Seoul. Now you are making me crave for it and that will cost me an air-ticket from Singapore.
15,000!
Och, Ed, look at the size of that chicken! Well worth it, my man, well worth it.
This used to be a favourite of the late president Noh, I heard. Anyway, I agree, great samgeytang (and parking:).
