aA Gallery & Cafe | Samcheong-dong
I often check out aA’s in Hongdae when I’m in the area so I was happy to learn of a new location opening up in Samcheong-dong. A little more minimalistic in style, it’s nonetheless a pretty cool place to hang out on a Sunday. There’s a nice big open kitchen outside on the terrace that cooks up some nice BBQ selections. The chicken platter will run you 18,000 won and the mixed grill (pictured below) is 25,000 won. Loaded with sausages, potatoes, assorted veggies, beef patties and grilled chicken it’s pretty damn tasty. The brie and ham sandwich (8,000 won) is also good. Wash this back with a tall 500ml glass of Schmucker’s draft beer (8,000 won) and you’re good to go. Also noteworthy is th fact that aA’s boasts three galleries, one in the basement and two on the second and third floors respectively. The cafe up on the second level is pretty sparse in decor, but I did find this ultimate reading chair that I found hard to get up from after spending a good two hours in the company of my book and cafe latte (5,000 won). Overall, prices are more than reasonable and the atmosphere is very inviting. aA’s is right on the corner at the entrance to Samcheong-dong (on the right hand side just after the road forks left to Cheong Wa Dae and right to Samcheong-dong’s main shopping street). Tel: (02) 722-1211.
