Suyeon Sanbang | Teahouses in Seoul

August 9, 2009

Yesterday was a nice day. And since the weather these last few weeks has been absolute crap, I decided to make the most of it.

The area of Seongbuk-dong, in particular the beautiful Suyeon Sanbang Tea House, has long been a favourite of Robert.

A short skip off the main road, it’s a nice little retreat and gives one the impression of being miles away from civilization – my kind of place. I left my map at home and had to do a fair bit of looking around (which led me to some other nifty places like this), but wound up finding it in the end.

To get there, take subway Line 4 to Hansung University Station and hop out exit 6. You can grab a bus from there, or set out on foot it as I did. It’s a good 20-minute walk, but as with any new adventure, you think less about the time and more about all the new that surrounds you. Follow the road, past the police station, as it bends right. The tea house will be on your right.
